The fairytale gone bad? Maria Sharapova is about to lose her deal with Nike.

Maria Sharapova- tennis star, entepreneur, and the highest paid female athelete in the world. This last achievement Sharapova owes mainly to her huge Nike contract which she signed when she was nearly 11 years old! Now, it seems that the fairytale gone bad and sportswear giant will soon annouce that the collaboration between Russian tennis princess and Nike is over. You wonder why? Here are some reasons why the Siberian Princess will soon lose her deal with American sportswear giant.

11.  The meldonium case.

In 2016 Sharapova was accused of dopping because she had taken banned substance- meldonium. As she explained in special conference, Russian tennis star wasn’t informed well about that meldonium would be added to the list of the banned substances. As she claimes, it was International Tennis Federation who didn't do their job well by only send her an e-mail once and didn't remind her more about this fact. She also claimed that the substance she was given by her family doctor for ten years and has no strong influence on her body and couldn't help her reaching better results.

“In Eastern Europe everyone takes meldonium”- claimed her fans who couldn't believe that their idol was a cheater.

22. The failed comeback.
After being banned from profesional tennis for 15 months, Sharapova came back to serious business. But the road to glory was a way harder than she might expect. First of all, she was ranked 400th in the world, so she couldn’t participate in biggest events. Immediately after she had announced her comeback, she received wild-cards, which enable her a participation in Main Draws of the biggest tournaments like Porsche Tennis Cup in Stuttgart or Mutua Madrid Open. The fact, that the person accused of dopping receives wild card has divided tennis world in two groups: those who thinks that Sharapova’s achievemets deserved to be awarded by wild card, and those who thinks that a cheater shouldn’t have any right to come back to competetive sport. Sharapova respond to these attacks saying that she had a chance and she just took it. Giving wild card is a personal thing of each tournament director and she can even play in a parking in downtown Los Angeles.

After one and a half year after she came back, her result are far from expectations. She has won only one tournament, in Tianjin and she hasn’t reach any semifinal of Grand Slam tournament yet.

33.     The enterpreneur career.

Soon after she was accused of doping, she began to study in Harvard businesss course and her main goal become to develop her series of Candy- Sugarpova. During her banning time she definately devolped the business, signing a contract with Polish chocolate fabric and launching new stores in London and Australia. What is more, she said, she hopes to enter German and French markets by the end of this year.

Sadly, for the fans of Siberian Ice Queen, as they called her, she seems to no longer have such intrest in tennis. She was withdrawn from various tournaments this year. Looking at her social media, especially Instagram you can see that tennis is no longer that important in her life. She won't participate in any tournament until 2019. What will happen with her in next season? We'll see.
